<br />
Well, since the kiddos went back to school yesterday I finally have a chance to get to work on some of my personal projects. I have so many things that I get started and then never finish because I get interrupted, or have to run out and do something, etc., etc., ad nauseum...<br />
<br />
And one of those things is blogging!<br />
<br />
So, longtime readers may recall that I spent a whole year (2011, 2012??? I forget) doing posts on trash-picked or free items every Tuesday. I am never above trash picking a great find or at least something that needs a little work to be cool. Even now that my kids are approaching pre-teen years and this probably embarrasses them soooo much. Hehehe...<br />
<br />
Last week we took the kids down the Shore for a day and on my way down there I noticed an old springer/motel chair out for the trash. It wasn't just sitting there; it looked like it had either fallen out of someone's truck or someone had jumped on the seat and caused the whole thing to collapse. I figured if it was still there later on when we came home I would grab it. And so it was.<br />
<br />
Like a bad blogger I neglected to take a picture of it "before"..., but imagine this chair with the legs completely collapsed and almost touching the bottom of the seat- sort of like it was folded in half. (which was kind of a good thing, because I don't think I could have gotten it into the car, otherwise.) Also, the top was faded red and the bottom was faded so badly it looked gray. There was plenty of rusty spots on the legs also.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNP5sTfPitZB3NWWIfa4MSrjx314fUjMUGxdBmjR6UyGQ-kSZdvxpyugMzxAydOzYThDa82No1uRy5RV5OtJFdjdPVrHPKQ3jQPUDSz5UBE-MnCHvFikLWBO-PAh1csGQDsTg75YO6X4k/s1600/image+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNP5sTfPitZB3NWWIfa4MSrjx314fUjMUGxdBmjR6UyGQ-kSZdvxpyugMzxAydOzYThDa82No1uRy5RV5OtJFdjdPVrHPKQ3jQPUDSz5UBE-MnCHvFikLWBO-PAh1csGQDsTg75YO6X4k/s400/image+%25282%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We managed to get the legs about 85% straightened out, and everything sanded and primed. Then after I put the kids on the bus yesterday, I went out and chose this pretty color of blue, Rustoleum's Ocean. Several coats on the seat, and some white on the legs and it was ready to put back together. I think it came out pretty well for something left for dead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMfQqQYBkwckVf5aU_HbtZ8HBaRblo7HrbNIEOv4rss7LIE23A2wwO3U06ndsVV_jDJM03YerkJ7HXkn7FyeHuUdy1fdyrvf7neIwEdlQjLoZM62pgB043rCrfJONbVajr93OxZUhKcq0/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMfQqQYBkwckVf5aU_HbtZ8HBaRblo7HrbNIEOv4rss7LIE23A2wwO3U06ndsVV_jDJM03YerkJ7HXkn7FyeHuUdy1fdyrvf7neIwEdlQjLoZM62pgB043rCrfJONbVajr93OxZUhKcq0/s400/image.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is it with its life partner- eventually I will paint the other chair to match!</div>

<br />
I hope I remember how to do this blogging thing...haha! Anyway, I have been spending a lot of time on facebook and I realized that 1) while fun, it is not the best venue to go into lengthy detail about my projects and finds, and 2) probably a lot of my "regular" friends do not care about all that stuff. But all my blogger pals might and I miss you guys! (And if you want to be fb friends leave a comment below, and I will message you.)<br />
<br />
Of course I still thrift a lot and frequent as many yard sales and flea markets as I can. In the last couple of weeks I have been really lucky to find some really cool stuff that I wanted to share. One of the things I love to find is cool mid-century lighting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiynkubcP7-Scye_xpnLiN53dM9rYthNNeWRJRL4sfgiXsXwqlQXhP0Y9Kep06WL4YdWaPWTxWPId7EKjzSsXVhoucDBLa5XLWUwi55QJJR6BbWSa8ofgNtU61eigfDopG1MzTyPt95i8cN/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiynkubcP7-Scye_xpnLiN53dM9rYthNNeWRJRL4sfgiXsXwqlQXhP0Y9Kep06WL4YdWaPWTxWPId7EKjzSsXVhoucDBLa5XLWUwi55QJJR6BbWSa8ofgNtU61eigfDopG1MzTyPt95i8cN/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Now, the thing about lighting is that if there are any issues with the wiring you have a situation on your hands. A bad one. So I always make sure that the wiring is good and replace it if necessary. It is a good thing my brother is an electrician because he is always on hand to advise me!<br />
<br />
I have been looking for a cool atomic lamp for our bedside table. Actually I would have loved to have found a pair of lamps, but anything was better than the crappy 80s brass faux-Stiffel lamp my husband was using. (Did I mention he won it in a poker game? Well, game ON!) Anyway, I grabbed this awesome lamp at a flea market for $3. It was marked "Miller 1955" on the turquoise ceramic part. It was also covered in mouse poop and super nasty.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyD9pEAL8oKs_UkePOCn1wVwoajBCFfkfPKeXAN2hMx3CxCOfiPB1IRhuhii3e_lxZaCwhwwifDeDZj2YDiCJSdO2pcD5Ixe_cANExTbo1YWOGJlW61q3hLNF6WsNdwwxiURweK5-lNnyq/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyD9pEAL8oKs_UkePOCn1wVwoajBCFfkfPKeXAN2hMx3CxCOfiPB1IRhuhii3e_lxZaCwhwwifDeDZj2YDiCJSdO2pcD5Ixe_cANExTbo1YWOGJlW61q3hLNF6WsNdwwxiURweK5-lNnyq/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Yeah, that bottom is supposed to be shiny metal. I think I actually hosed it off with a pressure washer- clearly it had to be re-wired in addition to completely cosmetically restored. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I took it apart and repainted all the metal parts with gold spray paint. Instead of going to the hardware store and buying a $10 lamp kit, I went to the thrift store and bought a donor lamp with a good socket and cord for 99 cents.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTTREOhQ0BnoZs-6Y3KI32cljvW06OlzCBJ0CIP93H7m3VjOUWiF-FOafkkudLZ7BTVd7qCBDsFDkmmF2GV4IkdlGVetdbg5qYi3MwqmHTCCr-sjzcdpCDFjlMHbKpQWW3NjX2uZTBhpYN/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTTREOhQ0BnoZs-6Y3KI32cljvW06OlzCBJ0CIP93H7m3VjOUWiF-FOafkkudLZ7BTVd7qCBDsFDkmmF2GV4IkdlGVetdbg5qYi3MwqmHTCCr-sjzcdpCDFjlMHbKpQWW3NjX2uZTBhpYN/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After putting it all back together and testing it out- success!- it was time for the fun part: trying on shades. I may be a bit of a vintage-lampshade-hoarder...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXS3Tn8NcVaZGc38b2hSSiEpQ5RUONYbErhqaw3Tg-21SQR9WKhcrjgd_w1BwUkwMFsZVcaXr_za7reCbuUD8vKQiU04FtngW2FS3KGutKM6HHUIo179gChjz1LFrtlpREmZIMFZOg1uk4/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXS3Tn8NcVaZGc38b2hSSiEpQ5RUONYbErhqaw3Tg-21SQR9WKhcrjgd_w1BwUkwMFsZVcaXr_za7reCbuUD8vKQiU04FtngW2FS3KGutKM6HHUIo179gChjz1LFrtlpREmZIMFZOg1uk4/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I really wanted the larger tiered shade to work, but it sat too high. I may try again if I can find a smaller harp. I ended up going with the green fiberglass shade on the right. I actually like the look quite a bit and to my relief, the light in the room is not actually green.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFy_I8MdDSIYBZWh_Vs0lplfY6TXs7gPscMAVHUrOIK_l4H_X1POkx4LmULvJ2LIez3nHjYznHu0UeeceTPDLL9vndhM5cTajI_EElDEEApOFUoMeHga-sIsigGqRgAZeeNQdCfexdNzyy/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFy_I8MdDSIYBZWh_Vs0lplfY6TXs7gPscMAVHUrOIK_l4H_X1POkx4LmULvJ2LIez3nHjYznHu0UeeceTPDLL9vndhM5cTajI_EElDEEApOFUoMeHga-sIsigGqRgAZeeNQdCfexdNzyy/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since we have a lot of green, including the bedspread, in our bedroom, it works well.</div>
<br />
My second lighting score was just the other day. I went to a thrift store I haven't been to in a while. (Basically they price everything "vintage" ridiculously high, like 3x ebay prices, so I just haven't bothered going.) But for some reason I decided to go. And whadyya know, I actually found a something!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVOSzODRoYV3Rh_sDOtBorllQvxo7VOGZzoJT4H337lGWveCSbzJVXGTpDVH0Iym6_-DcMD9xO-99f5vn7WHrvApjyAOInxR5zWoBYBR1lME6gjAKi8kaNlwMlC_NhTXQv4-iLQvsyvuSf/s1600/IMGP3178.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVOSzODRoYV3Rh_sDOtBorllQvxo7VOGZzoJT4H337lGWveCSbzJVXGTpDVH0Iym6_-DcMD9xO-99f5vn7WHrvApjyAOInxR5zWoBYBR1lME6gjAKi8kaNlwMlC_NhTXQv4-iLQvsyvuSf/s400/IMGP3178.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I bought these two Mid Century Modern pendant lights for a song. They even have their original ceiling plates. After doing a little research, it looks like they might be by designer Paavo Tynell. They would be so cool in someone's MCM house, so I listed them in my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/239793280/pair-vintage-mcm-teardrop-pendant-lights?ref=shop_home_active_11" target="_blank">Etsy shop</a>. Here's hoping Katy Perry buys them, lol.</div>
<br />
I did test them out and they work great!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVhYrM3Um8RxzsSYbrLCkbrIF0TlLPabnVLEkN2GEDNeVa3Gq-5TzjVFzP6RK97slyJqvoLwfiTGU7Y169vs_e_2FiYIauqgam1tZzr25cU5WEcW4D6vuYpkMZxumyyZGlgTqMO1XX_rJz/s1600/IMGP3170.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVhYrM3Um8RxzsSYbrLCkbrIF0TlLPabnVLEkN2GEDNeVa3Gq-5TzjVFzP6RK97slyJqvoLwfiTGU7Y169vs_e_2FiYIauqgam1tZzr25cU5WEcW4D6vuYpkMZxumyyZGlgTqMO1XX_rJz/s400/IMGP3170.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, my third adventure in lighting is a little bit different. No fab modern pieces here- just trying to update a fixture on a budget. We have a bit of a rustic vibe up at our cabin. At least I have been trying to get that going. And clearly this fixture above the sink that my mother-in-law picked out was not working for that look. (She picked out all the finishes for the place about 15 years ago after she retired from working at a bank, where she was in charge of the appearance of all the bank branches. I tease her that her house even looked like a bank.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_N5j7eJTBgfTVFSBXRzL1cstEB0duKyG3bSY6Pa9s_PvD8ZsxZ9Pw7tfnr8ke0yZ43MWFoSzhtE0Vdqgfmd0ZI166qg1xnbuYVTVuhAaM1nK5AlGiRhmqrPjeMkc-VybV2hU36nyKM-yz/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_N5j7eJTBgfTVFSBXRzL1cstEB0duKyG3bSY6Pa9s_PvD8ZsxZ9Pw7tfnr8ke0yZ43MWFoSzhtE0Vdqgfmd0ZI166qg1xnbuYVTVuhAaM1nK5AlGiRhmqrPjeMkc-VybV2hU36nyKM-yz/s400/008.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80s, but I cannot stand that shiny brass look. So now that the place is all ours, I have been doing what I can to get rid of it, but without spending a lot of $$. I discovered Rust-o-leum hammered bronze spray paint, and painted all the shiny brass cabinet knobs last year. I figured, why not try it on the light fixture as well? So I took it down, lightly sanded it and painted it. I left the frosted glass globes off entirely and swapped the bulbs for Edison bulbs, I think it came out pretty well, and definitely cost less than a brand new fixture!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I know, I've been a bad blogger and haven't updated in a while. I hope you are still reading!<br />
<br />
I have been getting out to the thrifts again, after taking a bit of a break in December. I just have way too much stuff and when I got the holiday decorations out, I realized I have to clear some stuff out. So a lot got donated- things that didn't fit or had issues, and I couldn't sell them for what I needed to get. There are some that believe in thrift karma; that is, when you donate good stuff, you get good stuff. Well, I think that was the case with today's excursions. I took a bunch of stuff to the thrift store and came home with some better stuff!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_yAUDjQG-UTE9B3mEiB5pGs6yvlNTy2ZYDWbUBp7ng3cWGr5ZJPwiNHg9GSGWUlqYkbr-P4p1HU7jyMsSCPpYhgSb2M0QBqVHJAJuSrNyeFHcvgx2tljTCLAw0O-ufxgGv6_Uf5XiQKA/s1600/IMGP2052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_yAUDjQG-UTE9B3mEiB5pGs6yvlNTy2ZYDWbUBp7ng3cWGr5ZJPwiNHg9GSGWUlqYkbr-P4p1HU7jyMsSCPpYhgSb2M0QBqVHJAJuSrNyeFHcvgx2tljTCLAw0O-ufxgGv6_Uf5XiQKA/s1600/IMGP2052.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was a banner day for MCM, as you can see. But first, the Pyrex, as always. I have not been finding a lot of Pyrex lately, mostly because I know some of the thrift stores I frequent have been putting it all on ebay. Which kind of sucks, because that is what primarily gets me in the door right now- if you put it all on ebay, I have little reason to come and shop the rest of your store. But some always slips through the cracks and dinnerware is a prime example of that. The lime plate is actually a chop plate or a platter, and I don't have anything that size (it's over 12" diameter- that's a regular dinner plate in front of it below) so I bought that. I would like to find more lime plates to mix in with my turquoise- I love that color combo.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2caw0PkGkln1xt2lBAXSoPpGO152GLWAL_OH-1ReMT_jg0jix30GT8BfRH_KLokmru5xyXEQtGiXmLPcd5opRcndWkLjyJAh0EG5Cye_MSltvdKNpxJoY8P8u3dUwG6nBgnaUeNfuQzY/s1600/IMGP2054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2caw0PkGkln1xt2lBAXSoPpGO152GLWAL_OH-1ReMT_jg0jix30GT8BfRH_KLokmru5xyXEQtGiXmLPcd5opRcndWkLjyJAh0EG5Cye_MSltvdKNpxJoY8P8u3dUwG6nBgnaUeNfuQzY/s1600/IMGP2054.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These turquoise melamine dishes are Russel Wright- I love this style and have a few other small pieces, but nothing close to the whole set. It would take me forever to collect it, most likely, so I may let these go. But right now the little handled bowls are getting a lot of use holding snacks for the kids.</div>

At one of the thrifts I went to, someone had donated a whole Mickey Mouse collection, including a lot of older pieces from back into the 60s. I picked out this gumball machine and will try to resell it in my booth- we'll see how it goes!</div>

OK, so I have been seeing these online for a long time, and loving them. The graphics are so amazing on all the Finel Arabia bowls, and the heart one is so iconic. I read on the <a href="http://therecycleista.blogspot.com/2015/01/my-top-5-vintage-finds-of-2014.html?showComment=1420848789850#c6171548416652181082" target="_blank">Recycle-ista's blog</a> about her finding one after imagining she would and it got me doing the same thing. I was reading her blog, thinking, that's so cool that she found one just like she had been hoping for, wouldn't that be neat to happen next time I go into a store...?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And what do you know...there, in the middle of the Valentine's Display it sat. I have never seen one in person, so I was surprised at how large it is! But now I have one, and I promise you I am already dreaming about my next find, and hoping that dreams will come true all over again!</div>

<br />
As mentioned in my last post, I have been finding and acquiring some really nice pieces of Pyrex. So, my apologies to those of you who do not share my fascination with dishes; this post may not interest you. Sorry!<br />
<br />
But for the rest of you afflicted with Pyrexia, we will carry on:<br />
<br />
I don't know what I ever decorated with before I had Pyrex. My friends and family always are shocked by the fact that I have so many pieces of Pyrex that I can created color themes with them. Hehe. Frankly, I'm sort of shocked I can do that too. Fall themed display? Why yes, let me get out all my red, yellow, orange, and black bowls and casseroles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimeswy90VEvwYYe7V7MY7r22exWN5Vq_l86U8TKTENLNHAjkovEl4zsva7hQ9islDPP0S9dHZUu7LuOAMKb_AGobwEb9Rr0SnZiG5ooFQy0_OfadvzdB1km-T1kf2WxbN39Vrxy8zP8s4/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimeswy90VEvwYYe7V7MY7r22exWN5Vq_l86U8TKTENLNHAjkovEl4zsva7hQ9islDPP0S9dHZUu7LuOAMKb_AGobwEb9Rr0SnZiG5ooFQy0_OfadvzdB1km-T1kf2WxbN39Vrxy8zP8s4/s1600/photo+5.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The black and white casserole on top was my most recent Pyrex purchase, it's a JAJ (English Pyrex) Haymaker. My son saw a picture of it, and begged me to buy it, because he wants to be a farmer, and it depicts people loading hay into a wagon. And when a nine year old boy tells you to by dishes, you listen. So I did, and promised him he could have it when I die, lol.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't think I've ever spent that much on a casserole dish, and probably will never spend that much again. Because you all know I am cheap and would much rather find my stuff at thrift stores.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCE78eRrt4le3N5GmDGhakjo8h7Ylc09rMZpG7mPTRzj41FENqEDniNIDp5wRo2iRfuwuD9RVds6uge8YjrPL1L_SvysgmjwcNBmJHj7IzH6kUzf3uCtHGUbILE-L42I9DjFF8_xxYCK4/s1600/photo+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCE78eRrt4le3N5GmDGhakjo8h7Ylc09rMZpG7mPTRzj41FENqEDniNIDp5wRo2iRfuwuD9RVds6uge8YjrPL1L_SvysgmjwcNBmJHj7IzH6kUzf3uCtHGUbILE-L42I9DjFF8_xxYCK4/s1600/photo+(1).JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this stuff I actually thrifted. Much more my style! The big yellow bowl is called "Pineapple Party" and actually fades from yellow at the top to orange on the bottom. It is really pretty. I got it at my favorite thrift on a Thursday, then stopped in at a nearby rummage sale for the orange mugs and blue mason jars. "Pineapple Party" is actually a chip and dip set, with a smaller bowl and bracket. I didn't have much hope of ever completing the set until I logged onto the Pyrex trading group and saw someone had posted the small bowl for trade the very same day! We worked out a deal and I had the set put together in just a few days. It's funny how things can work out sometimes.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also made another great trade that week and was able to acquire one of my most wanted Pyrex pieces, a Saxony casserole. I traded a couple things I had thrifted for it, so the cost to me was reasonable. I doubt I would have ever bought it if I hadn't been able to trade for it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDj4UQYyeUcnOjswNlcGOlbhfe9AdKzeEUJZCMafsc4TxXILd4xnV3twVMVDIlqrcdB9B6ACKtZfn_B9_K9Sk815_daOp_eADN96WVvF3VTqZA-fo77aYJGkUrNy0Z5M0uYYlD3GyDubY/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDj4UQYyeUcnOjswNlcGOlbhfe9AdKzeEUJZCMafsc4TxXILd4xnV3twVMVDIlqrcdB9B6ACKtZfn_B9_K9Sk815_daOp_eADN96WVvF3VTqZA-fo77aYJGkUrNy0Z5M0uYYlD3GyDubY/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This last group is one of my best ever recent thrift finds. I am lucky to have quite a bit of Friendship by now, and every single piece has been thrifted. Including this 475 casserole, I have all the 470s but the 474. And the orange 442 means that I am only missing the 441 and I will have all the Cinderella bowls. Add to that the divided dish and a couple of the much sought-after red pixies which I already have, and I am well on my way to finishing that pattern. I am determined to thrift it all.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Happy hunting!</div>

<br />
Well, school is back in session and I thought I'd have so much time to blog and list things in my Etsy store, and...nope, that just hasn't happened! I honestly don't know how some of you guys do it.<br />
<br />
But as usual, there is always time to thrift and yard sale, while the yard saling weather is still good. And I have to say, it has been very good to me lately. I live in a great area for yard sales with lots of old people in older homes, who are now in the process of down sizing. And of course, that means I am upsizing, or acquiring more stuff! Hehe...<br />
<br />
Last week I was on my way to a church rummage sale (which was pretty much a bust, all I bought was a 50 cent planter) and stopped at the most amazing yard sale and I hit the jackpot!<br />
<br />

Look at all that vintage Halloween!!!<br />

I have never seen so much all in one place and here it is on my floor!<br />

<br />
And there was Pyrex and pixies as well! That tan stripe 401 is just what I needed to complete my stack of stripes. I never find cute pixies around here, so even though these are not in perfect condition, they are most welcome.<br />
<br />
I've been having a good run on Pyrex lately as well. A few pieces found at the thrifts, but mostly trading for some really good things- a future post coming up on that!<br />
<br />SusieQThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07472123869920926206noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-327051242734642774.post-75889002278875131152014-08-24T20:17:00.000-04:002014-08-24T20:17:09.113-04:00What a long, strange trip it's been!Hello Friends, it's good to have you here!<br />
<br />
Well, summer is flying by and I realize I haven't been around here a whole lot, so we have some catching up to do! I spent the last week thrifting some spots I don't normally get to, so I have a lot to share.<br />
<br />
My kids were at a day camp down in the area I grew up in, so after dropping them off at 9 am I got to check out all my old favorite shops. So I got myself a plan and made sure to hit the biggest stores first and then the smaller stores later on. (Camp pickup was 3 pm) Most of my good finds at the larger stores were Monday and Tuesday morning. After that, meh... it amazes me how some of these stores can be so huge (one must be close to 20,000 sq.ft- a former big box store) and have so little quality merchandise. Or perhaps that is just the age we are living in and the good stuff is getting harder to find (I know it!)<br />
<br />
Anyway, on with the show!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFBncPrWoL0c50S8U-pETaeZL_YJe59Mu2aBc78NB_W7vG24Wib4efidXE-nPlsfNoo-P2PBVEBXLnNld1lFhfWGJXn6ecnW2AsDG4bf0dfK79wrkDBX00m7zf69zH-mPJ2LpGox7GMnA/s1600/thrifted+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFBncPrWoL0c50S8U-pETaeZL_YJe59Mu2aBc78NB_W7vG24Wib4efidXE-nPlsfNoo-P2PBVEBXLnNld1lFhfWGJXn6ecnW2AsDG4bf0dfK79wrkDBX00m7zf69zH-mPJ2LpGox7GMnA/s1600/thrifted+011.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This is my haul from that first big store on Monday and Tuesday mornings. As you might have guessed, it's mostly Pyrex. But I am super stoked about the blue Fire King Kimberly mug- I have a collection of one of each of these in every color and this was the last one I needed. It's taken me a couple of years to find one in the wild, and I almost resorted to Etsy a few times. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The black Pyrex mug was one of about eight in the store- I only bought one, just to have (again) one in every color, but now I am wishing I had bought them all. They look amazing with my cinnamon colored ones and would be great for Halloween displays. Speaking of Halloween, the cat thingy is a flashlight but it is missing its innards. It's not very old either, but definitely has that vintage look, and for a buck, it cam home with me. The Terra bowls are part of my 'leave no Pyrex behind' strategy and will probably go to my booth. The Verde 443 is the start of a new collection- I just figured out that I have all the Verde fridgies, so now I must collect the bowls...sigh...</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
These were from my next stop. The opal hostess bowls were probably yellow at one time, but I can't find any trace of color. I'll hang onto them to mix into other displays- I have found that even though opal (aka plain white) Pyrex really doesn't do much for me, it looks great mixed into displays. The milk glass tumblers depict Jack and Jill tumbling down the hill. They are actually made by Hazel Atlas and were part of a children's dinnerware set. I can't really imagine the thought process that went into designing these for<i> children. </i>I know my kids would be wondering what the heck happened to Jack and Jill here...someone online referred to them as 'CSI cups' :)... but the sheer oddity of them was enough for me to add them to my collection. </div>

At the same store later in the week I found this awesome camp blanket. It is a really strange size- twin width but XXtra long. It came in handy already when we went to a chilly outdoor movie on Friday- we could wrap it completely around the three of with room to spare. I love finding camp blankets because they are beautiful and useful at the same time. I think I have close to 10 now, the only problem being they take up quite a bit of storage space, so I just keep piling them up on the beds. Who needs comforters?</div>

These are my finds from one of my all-time favorite church thrifts. They get good stuff and they price it well. No $19 Pyrex here! The enamel bucket is so amazing, I have already adopted it as my housecleaning bucket. I feel like a Depression-era housewife... cool stuff like this just makes ordinary housework a little easier! (See my ironing post on this topic <a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2011/08/ironing-vintage-way.html" target="_blank">here</a>) I also found an incredible vintage dress from about the same era in the store. I always wonder if things like this were donated by the same person.</div>

This little child's tea set is so cute and perfect condition. Each cup/saucer set was just 75 cents! (Did I mention that I love this store?) The primary blue fridgie was $2.50 also. And yes, that is a Vera tablecloth! Once it gets a good Oxyclean soak to remove some yellowing, it's headed to the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">Etsy store</a>.</div>

I'll keep you in suspense about that until later! Lately I have been finding a lot of Ekco Eterna/American Tempo flatware, which is fine with me because it's easy to sell in my Etsy shop. The milk glass mugs are Fire King and Federal and are headed over to my booth. The beaker is my only Pyrex lab ware purchase- I will use it as a vase I guess.</div>

On my way home from that store I stopped at a yard sale and picked up these pieces of Pyrex. The large yellow was the last piece I needed to complete another Primary set, since I sold the one I had in my booth last month. Last month's sales were amazing, so I am feeling really good about that part of my endeavors. I just found a snowflake 043 for my personal collection in my last post, so this one will go to the booth as well.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, summer is here and it brings with it a lot of change. First of all, of course the kids are home. And <i>soooo</i> bored. Hehe, I knew that was coming, so we have plenty of things to do, like 5 different camps for my daughter and my son is opening his own Etsy shop! He is following in his mom's footsteps, but selling things a nine-year old boy thinks is cool. Mostly he is going to be restoring and selling customized bathroom scales, which is a project we started <a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2012/02/trash-to-treasure-kustom-bathroom-scale.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Look for the grand opening of <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/JaysonsKustomHouse/about" target="_blank">JaysonsKustomHouse</a> in a couple of weeks!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For now, I am also trying to keep as busy as I can, and trying to do as much selling as I can in my antique booth and my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">Etsy shop</a>. So, hey, help me out a bit and see if there's anything you like! Be sure to use the coupon code PIT20OFF for 20% off your purchase!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Maybe it's a coincidence, or maybe not, but I have been finding a lot of blue items lately. Yard sales and thrifts have been very good this month, and I have been finding tons of cool junk and Pyrex, of course.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First up, I found yet another milk glass cake plate. This makes 3 in the last 6 weeks or so. It's wedding season, so hopefully it won't stay in the booth long! And I thrifted my first set of clear bottomed Pyrex- I usually pass on these, but with Pyrex prices on the rise I thought it might be a good idea to get a set now. They are various shades of blue and are very pretty; hopefully someone will love them.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The same day I found this stack of 401s at an antique store. Now, I almost never buy things at antique stores (I mostly window shop- "doing research" I call it) but I couldn't pass up five bowls for $10. The three primary blues are all unnumbered; two are in good condition, but one is pretty poor. (I'll make that a daily user, maybe I'll dishwasher it into a faux opal?) I am always trying to make up other Primary sets to go to the booth, and can definitely use the good ones. The pink is poor as well, but this is my first pink mixer in the wild, and it will display OK for now. The orange flameglo is pretty good; I haven't decided if I want to keep it yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDyGLzjCkgl2JavM__sND9C-ahCANS5uR2N-pss0l1s3OBUxk5BmheRiynyM-sG1PT1MVT068ZBEPw3yd3M2ga6zfUeNWePFZ3QcFOy4rBJ5uYktRTaJ-wYL8XSXSWz-6gJwUW981VNqk/s1600/thrift+finds+June+071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDyGLzjCkgl2JavM__sND9C-ahCANS5uR2N-pss0l1s3OBUxk5BmheRiynyM-sG1PT1MVT068ZBEPw3yd3M2ga6zfUeNWePFZ3QcFOy4rBJ5uYktRTaJ-wYL8XSXSWz-6gJwUW981VNqk/s1600/thrift+finds+June+071.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I also found my first piece of JAJ in a thrift store, a pattern called "Tuscany Vegetables". Altogether, it was a good day for Pyrex, with the clear bottom set, the stack of 401s and this JAJ all coming from two stores that day. Plus, these huge veggie salt and pepper shakers- I love Mr. Corn's jaunty moustache! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Last week I went to a great yard sale- it almost made The List. (I keep a mental list of the top ten yard sales I've ever been to- this one was somewhere in the top twenty, for sure.) It was my favorite kind of sale- an older person in an older house in an older neighborhood. I bought some Pyrex, some other glass and the coolest lamp.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The Pyrex I bought was this snowflake 043, which came with a lid and is absolutely mint. I almost didn't buy it- it seems that the word has gotten out, even to the little old ladies, that Pyrex is collectible. The sticker on this had a price of $5, which the cheapskate in me thought was too much for a yard sale. Then I came to my senses and realized I would probably pay that or more in a thrift store in a heartbeat. And I didn't have this color in my collection yet, either, so duh...buy it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1hcug_X3Do6vMRUW-qt2XyjUkuFeHkB6CTxH2NCU9QR-SMF92VDm1kdrVoivw5zWATtFcXy8-cZ8ys6gUC87cvINmkObtNQ9bCpwTJz-usLe9isRXmhHUQHIl1HuLLrBS2MzIPrtsQRM/s1600/thrift+finds+June+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1hcug_X3Do6vMRUW-qt2XyjUkuFeHkB6CTxH2NCU9QR-SMF92VDm1kdrVoivw5zWATtFcXy8-cZ8ys6gUC87cvINmkObtNQ9bCpwTJz-usLe9isRXmhHUQHIl1HuLLrBS2MzIPrtsQRM/s1600/thrift+finds+June+007.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And while word has gotten out about Pyrex being hot, apparently Hazel Atlas is still flying under the radar (at least at this yard sale). The pink, turquoise and yellow plates are all HA, as is the matching mug. The green is FireKing jadeite, and get this- they were all 10 cents each!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDwouIZQRwK6_lwjP_ZQMROuhsPsJAh6BhWZ6t_M37Yyj2dI1LvYllFPw1Gc7BNG3Q2Cd8uUxFIpFZRu9LCybavlXvZk3bm4k_dMTdinHav9z7FrJdjvEdCqSuFM0G0ZufkbgsP4qCQcA/s1600/thrift+finds+June+076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDwouIZQRwK6_lwjP_ZQMROuhsPsJAh6BhWZ6t_M37Yyj2dI1LvYllFPw1Gc7BNG3Q2Cd8uUxFIpFZRu9LCybavlXvZk3bm4k_dMTdinHav9z7FrJdjvEdCqSuFM0G0ZufkbgsP4qCQcA/s1600/thrift+finds+June+076.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Then I bought this lamp from the same lady. I used to see these around every so often, years ago and never bought one. But they are few and far between anymore, so I popped. Good thing I did, because they are going for crazy money on Etsy! So guess where this is headed, LOL.... I also found a cool angular fiberglass laced shade, which for some reason I didn't photograph. I have quite a collection of these shades anymore; I never leave one behind that is in good condition and reasonably priced (like 50 cents!). Now I need some more cool lamp bases to go with them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Green seems to be a theme of my finds as well- on the same day I bought this vintage tablecloth at a thrift store. It still has its Simtex tag on it. Plus, it is large enough to fit my table- not always so easy to find in vintage linens!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And a little bit of green Pyrex, of course! This is the "Green Salad" promo from 1972, otherwise known as "Square Dot". Normally it is hard for me to get to thrifts right when they open, which I have always assumed is the best time to go. But this day I was able to get there early and found this gem on the bottom shelf. (And I did look all over for the matching salad utensils, to no avail.) It is absolutely mint and I love the color shading. Seeing this online, I never thought I would go for it, but in person it is stunning. For some reason lately, I am totally drawn to the brightly colored Pyrex- like Friendship and New Dots, and this will fit right in. Definitely going to keep this around for a while!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And how about this amazing fan? I found it amongst the appliances at a thrift store. It was a little more than I like to spend, at $20, but it works great-totally a keeper! I just keep telling my kids not to put their fingers anywhere near it; a trip to the emergency room is not the kind of excitement I'm looking for this summer!</div>

<br />
I don't know about you, but I have been a bit dumbfounded watching some recent ebay auctions for Pyrex. Even things that are not really rare (hello, Pink Stripe 403) have been going through the roof. So with that in mind, I have decided to keep my Pyrex hunt on the ground, so to speak, and only buy things in the wild. To me, that means thrift or yard sales- I suppose antique stores would count, but I am trying to get things cheap so that mostly leaves them out.<br />
<br />
Like most of you, things are hit and miss. I do find good stuff in the thrift stores, but a lot of times I come up empty. I go a lot, though, so I'm bound to find something one in a while. Usually I hit up 5-10 stores a week, some multiple times, but I probably only average about one piece a week. Then there's church sales and yard sales, which are also usually feast or famine- mostly there is none, but occasionally you hit the mother lode and can buy multiple pieces.<br />
<br />
Since it's been a while since my last post, here are some of my recent ITW finds:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV5CIlkVxRT6cGPxiyrowXrmGEFpawo4LMUO-uZqouMaxNUEU4ekpAxbBIFTFhEZqv_9cuM-Wpjek8opp9DTlQZwZR4hiSYj5DcdoLKxkSpOsOiOJGkz5EIgZHJw0DU3OJMt3LyPtz7nLY/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV5CIlkVxRT6cGPxiyrowXrmGEFpawo4LMUO-uZqouMaxNUEU4ekpAxbBIFTFhEZqv_9cuM-Wpjek8opp9DTlQZwZR4hiSYj5DcdoLKxkSpOsOiOJGkz5EIgZHJw0DU3OJMt3LyPtz7nLY/s1600/002.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I found this delphite 401 and 402 at a thrift store. I actually overlooked them the first time I walked by the shelf- probably because I was looking for patterns on white, not blue! And they were really priced reasonably; my guess is the thrift didn't know they were Pyrex because of the color. These are actually duplicates for me- of course, I bought mine online a while back thinking I would never find them ITW! The woodland butter dish goes into my collection of butter dishes- I only need the Autumn Harvest, Snowflake Garland and the elusive Sandalwood to complete them.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I picked up this Butterfly Gold 922 just this past weekend at a yard sale. I love to haggle, but I didn't even bother with this one- 75 cents was cheap enough!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6GO-2WiE54rNDVuni9PuA_7QcTpCZ9ns88cy30e5KCSgBaKFTZC6zrVHGcafYE1J3VNKlaLhpZYkd786aq2eXPZqawA2Hs6X8MuIcBLbJKYrEwaoR_DPm3XpVW1nZRtJsXc3ec73vES-B/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6GO-2WiE54rNDVuni9PuA_7QcTpCZ9ns88cy30e5KCSgBaKFTZC6zrVHGcafYE1J3VNKlaLhpZYkd786aq2eXPZqawA2Hs6X8MuIcBLbJKYrEwaoR_DPm3XpVW1nZRtJsXc3ec73vES-B/s1600/018.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
These are a (very good) week's worth of picks- the Spring Blossom casseroles (475, 474, 473) were all found as a set. The Square Flowers divided dish was found at another thrift- not my favorite pattern, but the price was right and it had a lid. I almost dropped this piece in the store- somehow I caught it with my left hand at the last minute. Gah- heart attack! The cinnamon mugs are my favorite color and match my Autumn Harvest, so they will get a lot of use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Spring Blossom just seems to be following me home lately. I have a 'no fridgie left behind' policy, as long as they are in good shape and have lids- so these joined my collection. I guess I am now trying to get all the fridge sets... ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMSviEuKxPZI5Mq5fgxTFjnESlsnZ0kFvTW8ZbDx9CAFgQFmLU3aapzVPtCeyfvrzqnyxWjF9KFYC9f5hTGNGo961zX1kl7MtWkBEQTILNk6ylK8mWxngRoevnnovjiQpVjl751l2Szw3T/s1600/june+pyrex+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMSviEuKxPZI5Mq5fgxTFjnESlsnZ0kFvTW8ZbDx9CAFgQFmLU3aapzVPtCeyfvrzqnyxWjF9KFYC9f5hTGNGo961zX1kl7MtWkBEQTILNk6ylK8mWxngRoevnnovjiQpVjl751l2Szw3T/s1600/june+pyrex+001.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I have seen the Ponderosa mugs, but have never seen plates before. Now I have two- I got these at a yard sale; the lady said her sister had worked at Ponderosa and brought them home. The turquoise hostess ramekin was a big surprise one day at a thrift store- I looked in vain for the chip bowl and bracket but it wasn't there. I have this set already; once again it is not something I ever thought I'd find ITW.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2rJhqJpgW0k2KnF7w-wkjiTrpS78S2pFGKfHPakbunqCmIjifCHRuKwqsfMZelC3qeS52_l_ktTHxOCZOnfvgtc3hfCAgYrkZ5uXKSecBhsWwbQwR6lcBwHvMCrUg4vy7pF4nAYmuNxbH/s1600/june+pyrex+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2rJhqJpgW0k2KnF7w-wkjiTrpS78S2pFGKfHPakbunqCmIjifCHRuKwqsfMZelC3qeS52_l_ktTHxOCZOnfvgtc3hfCAgYrkZ5uXKSecBhsWwbQwR6lcBwHvMCrUg4vy7pF4nAYmuNxbH/s1600/june+pyrex+004.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I am most happy about these two! I have never seen a pie plate and I have been looking for years. I know they're not terribly hard to find, but for some reason they had been eluding me. This flamingo one is mint and I found it in the same thrift as the Heinz promo, and also found four Fire King Blue Heaven Cinderella bowls. That was a great day! I totally stalked a lady that had picked up the Heinz and carried it around all the while she was yapping on her phone. Finally she set it down again and walked away and it was mine. I have almost bought this piece online on several occasions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So that's about it for my recent in the wild Pyrex! It goes to show that there are good things out there, you just have to be persistent and frequent at the thrifts, I guess.</div>

<br />
Finally, the weather has warmed up and yard sales are sprouting everywhere! I had some great luck this past week. I hit a couple of rummage sales Thursday first.<br />
<br />
I found a couple of vintage Hawaiian shirts at the first rummage sale- I thought it was going to be a bust for the longest time because I started in the housewares section and there was literally nothing but crap. I scoped out the clothing as a last resort and came up with a couple good ones- they are already listed in my Etsy store<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/188978205/vintage-1950s-hawaiian-shirt-green-and?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank"> here</a>.<br />
<br />
I got to another rummage sale later in the afternoon just before it closed. And that means it was bag day- everything I could fit in a paper bag was $2. It also means that stuff was kind of picked over, so I definitely didn't pack the bag full. But I picked up a couple books and puzzles:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip7w3yo5uM-kxN4vniAMhcWWYa4GNDIk1VaN6X4IBnkZ9Ip_ySl2mIU8zmlxneH_UAcjTX7coUwlEijtd5zX7fsxuX5u5a8TkP7MG_aF3KJA0fSDqHgCklamvyktSk6Hiq-LcYKoEsfbg/s1600/yard+sales+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip7w3yo5uM-kxN4vniAMhcWWYa4GNDIk1VaN6X4IBnkZ9Ip_ySl2mIU8zmlxneH_UAcjTX7coUwlEijtd5zX7fsxuX5u5a8TkP7MG_aF3KJA0fSDqHgCklamvyktSk6Hiq-LcYKoEsfbg/s1600/yard+sales+011.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Also grabbed these art pieces. The oil painting is another vintage landscape for my collection at our cabin. That is really coming along, and I should probably do a post on that sometime. The empty frame is a simple but elegant art deco picture frame, which I always pick up whenever I find them. So much nicer than the frames they have at Michael's!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik_N0wYNB5NZbBZBXoDfz4hiJsTpETlXpoDAOyXNaZSe359R28l8o__hwJMlXRvTde3YDSvaIskXWdfRnPa7MDITK0AG3ZUtJ94rReJjDUujU2Uz7dlcH1JNrpI5Zc5D6PgM1oeDi0ETk/s1600/yard+sales+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik_N0wYNB5NZbBZBXoDfz4hiJsTpETlXpoDAOyXNaZSe359R28l8o__hwJMlXRvTde3YDSvaIskXWdfRnPa7MDITK0AG3ZUtJ94rReJjDUujU2Uz7dlcH1JNrpI5Zc5D6PgM1oeDi0ETk/s1600/yard+sales+009.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The little Hazel Atlas Moderntone sherbet glass was part of the bag sale, as were the cute fork and spatula. The fork is the Corningware Country Festival pattern. The speckled bowls are actually confetti Melmac, and are the first I have ever seen in black and white. Maybe they are "RARE HTF"? LOL They will be listed in my Etsy store eventually too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkGn6nIfxl099pvf8t2epD8YvDWMg67xlO8nISDGDO9ugRK5W8yfGaO-IRkyQoedwLKq0CjPkxU4MJ9C-ZGEaIDBKxtrWgFOTFvJisdVvuycooU1HW02dFV-CxG__Cj9EAQzoy8aaIdmI/s1600/yard+sales+015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkGn6nIfxl099pvf8t2epD8YvDWMg67xlO8nISDGDO9ugRK5W8yfGaO-IRkyQoedwLKq0CjPkxU4MJ9C-ZGEaIDBKxtrWgFOTFvJisdVvuycooU1HW02dFV-CxG__Cj9EAQzoy8aaIdmI/s1600/yard+sales+015.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This was another item I put in my bag- I'm going to let you guess what this is and then show you what we did with it later!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEBv044Jn2mCsWGl2STSgUKDFfzMRKTuGx2bQPho8-9LnVyQ6SNqhf0kqSPd-91JMYBfH6anO_NxBeOTK-TZNA59lqeqq2PHJM5lXI8S3ZskhPFUAOqjKxma9mQ1w97nHgTZfKoC3yIL0/s1600/yard+sales+013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEBv044Jn2mCsWGl2STSgUKDFfzMRKTuGx2bQPho8-9LnVyQ6SNqhf0kqSPd-91JMYBfH6anO_NxBeOTK-TZNA59lqeqq2PHJM5lXI8S3ZskhPFUAOqjKxma9mQ1w97nHgTZfKoC3yIL0/s1600/yard+sales+013.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;">My husband took the kids to our local bike rodeo Saturday morning and I got to go driveway shopping. My son won 2nd place for his age group; I think he hasn't taken off his medal since then. But my prize was these pieces of Guardian Ware. I got all three for $1 each. The roaster is really huge and will bring a nice bit of $$ online.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9L9keEkV79Ld4_STLG8kwKjFT_N7xgmBJFLTZVFHHMmgCuIK9qtlj5dn-ElQIo3XDFCddq5-Kq3tWlg0nFZ9kGUcR2N0LF8eHKoRP4khOzucMbB-O7o2gGa1ptp00b-DgRF4GkTT5YlU/s1600/yard+sales+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9L9keEkV79Ld4_STLG8kwKjFT_N7xgmBJFLTZVFHHMmgCuIK9qtlj5dn-ElQIo3XDFCddq5-Kq3tWlg0nFZ9kGUcR2N0LF8eHKoRP4khOzucMbB-O7o2gGa1ptp00b-DgRF4GkTT5YlU/s1600/yard+sales+002.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I got these PBN horses at the same sale- it was a dollar sale, so everything there was $1. So, 5 paintings, $5! I am hoping to sell these as a group, I think they make an amazing "instant collection"!</div>

More from the dollar sale- the Shiny Brites, lampshade and Homer Laughlin bowl. That bowl is the most stunning piece of stoneware I have ever seen. It's got a raised pattern of trees all around it. I don't know much about Homer Laughlin other than Fiesta, but I want to know more about this style. The only bad part is it has a bit of a chip on the rim and a crack there, but will be beautiful holding fruit on the table.</div>

The Ponderosa plates are the only pieces of Pyrex I found. I have never seen the plates before, only the mugs. I'm sure these will go quickly in my Etsy store when I get them listed. The little brass swans were only a quarter; I actually have a couple of these already, they used to be my mother-in-law's.</div>

It is hard to find bakelite radios anymore. I used to see them all the time and now they are definitely few and far between. I bought one a couple of months ago and now found this one- the only ones I've seen in a long time. It's an Admiral- doesn't work, but for $5, will definitely look great on a shelf. The alarm clock was only a quarter and that one works!</div>

<br /></div>
Hello friends, it's good to have you here!<br />
<br />
Well, I've missed blogging a bit and don't think it's because I don't want to, but (you know there is always a 'but...') I've been crazy busy lately and haven't had a chance. I've been working on <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">my Etsy store</a> quite a bit, and all that photographing and listing takes time. I don't know about you, but I am <i>way</i> better at acquiring stuff than selling it! My downstairs has been taken over by the stuff I have bought to resell. Plus, I'm getting ready to sell at a flea market for the first time, so there's a bunch of things in my basement waiting to be priced, etc. I have a high tolerance for clutter, but this is getting out of control. (Shield your eyes- reality check follows!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinSNPGf9msAhCVybMQZGAU82JeUnS-5M8uHx9yEsPk1OcG-OVtYdoqICbpOnpsQTb58CvA8ovm20UvLTkqIX-WvFI4EPRSDIakkkGGl5wg4nfJgOm_stYFDobA08PT1t_AB0p_8FgJYes/s1600/026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinSNPGf9msAhCVybMQZGAU82JeUnS-5M8uHx9yEsPk1OcG-OVtYdoqICbpOnpsQTb58CvA8ovm20UvLTkqIX-WvFI4EPRSDIakkkGGl5wg4nfJgOm_stYFDobA08PT1t_AB0p_8FgJYes/s1600/026.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
In case you are wondering what it is like to be a vintage <strike>hoarder</strike> seller, this is what it looks like. It is a lot of fun, but more work than most people realize. And this is only a small part of the mess- my storage and packing stations are elsewhere!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
But that also means I've been buying a ton of cool stuff, so I thought you might like to see some all cleaned up and ready to show off!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I just bought this amazing antique chest yesterday. It had been sitting in my local Salvation Army for about a week and I kept passing it by because there was no price on it. (You know they won't sell stuff without a ticket on it, so I kept waiting.) It finally got priced yesterday and it was $6.99- seriously! Even at that, I hemmed and hawwed at it because I didn't think I could fit it in my car. And I was right...hehe. I somehow wedged it in the trunk of my Chevy Cruze and drove it a couple miles home with the trunk lid open.<br />
<br />
I bought it to use outside on my patio I was thinking as a potting bench or outdoor bar. It's not in great condition, but for outside it will be fine- I wish I had a covered porch to keep it on! It makes an amazing photo backdrop for some of my listings, which is exactly what I needed. Unfortunately, nothing will help my lame photography skills, though. Selling on Etsy is so dependent on taking great photos, and I definitely know that is my weakness.<br />

I pass up enamelware all the time- not quite sure why I suddenly decided to buy some. Except that these are awesome pieces and I love red. The platter is so cool, and it was only $1, the bowl still had some of the original label on it and it was $2. (See how easy it is to rationalize...)</div>

I love vintage lawn furniture and have <a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2011/05/weekend-patio-and-potting-shed-makeover.html" target="_blank">quite a collection</a> at this point. I bought this little strap chair for my daughter to use. It was only $2! I use the bigger one in the back all the time- they are so much lighter and more comfortable than those stupid chair-in-a-bag things. All this green and turquoise furniture is so cheery, plus it matches my <a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2013/04/april-showers.html" target="_blank">vintage patio umbrella </a>I thrifted last year. I can't wait to get it all out- will definitely have to do another post on that!</div>

This camera is one of my favorite buys from the last few weeks. It's a Polaroid Land Camera with its original case and all the accessories. My son and I actually went in on this together because I didn't have enough money on me to buy it that day. My 9 year old (known to many of you readers as "Eagle Eye") bailed me out! LOL But since he loaned me 1/3 of the purchase price I told him he could have 1/3 of the profit when we sell it. So look for it in my Etsy store soon, and help support the next generation of pickers! </div>

The time to buy holiday stuff is just after that holiday is over! I bought these Beistle leprechauns at the pound store. One is on a skateboard- argh- the cuteness! So they basically cost me 6 cents. And the Marvin the Martian lunch bags are still in their package. I can't decide if I want to sell them or let my kids use them for school, but I don't think 3rd graders appreciate the coolness factor here.</div>

I don't collect either of these patterns, but I know a lot of folks do, so here's hoping I can resell them. <br />
Recently I was asked by my parents to go through my stuff in their attic- I don't know about you, but I love going through attics! I had totally forgotten what was up there. I knew some of it was junk- like a lot of old text books and school papers. But I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of stuff from my childhood in the 80s that I thought was long gone.<br />
<br />
It's good to be a hoarder. Because later on you find stuff like this that your younger self thought was important to save!<br />

I was just reminiscing with a friend about these plastic charm necklaces. I actually think I had another one on a red chain- maybe as I dig further into the boxes I brought home I will find it. But I am just waiting for an opportunity to wear this one again. ;)<br />

Another 80s memory was Garbage Pail kids. I LOVED these (obviously- there are probably about 200 here!) I think I have almost all of the first 3 series. I was looking at some on Etsy not long ago, and wondering whatever happened to mine. Thanks again, hoarder self!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
My kids totally do not understand these! Oh well, I don't get Pokemon either.<br />
<br />
Remember Trapper Keepers? Go search for them on Etsy. But make sure you're sitting down- they aren't cheap! I actually look for these when I'm out thrifting, and have never found one. But now I found my own from 6th grade (1987) and all of the original folders! Too bad it's in piss poor shape or I'd have made myself a nice bit of cash. I think I'll use mine to hold my magazine clippings and such- way cooler than the plain brown accordian file I have been using.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And Swatches! I still have my original ones, and I buy them whenever I see them thrifting. They are so fun, I still wear them. I have some listed in my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">Etsy store</a> as well, so you can enjoy them too!</div>

<br />
So, last post was the pre-Birthday Thrift Crawl post, and this is the one with my finds from my actual single-day Thrift Crawl. Which actually fell on my birthday this year, March 1st! I got to 6 stores over about 40 miles in 4 hours. I got a bit of a late start because I had to go to my son's hockey game (he scored 2 goals!) and also got to stop in and visit with an old friend before ending up at my parents' house for dinner. It was a good day. And as I get older it's so much less about the stuff, and much more about the experience...but then again there is always plenty of stuff!<br />
<br />
So on with it...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA1RnGxmKEKOsmdzci8K3l7GAO9E4GgRCfHTVfmDnRN7GYybjcWCIxh2Ow_Uwy-eOTg-_-_CJqeWNdQs71FDLyRNw3i2xwv0f2vNpRoPeizxCcXNXogRHf1Yg0fDITSXgu3DC5sGEQ-UI/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA1RnGxmKEKOsmdzci8K3l7GAO9E4GgRCfHTVfmDnRN7GYybjcWCIxh2Ow_Uwy-eOTg-_-_CJqeWNdQs71FDLyRNw3i2xwv0f2vNpRoPeizxCcXNXogRHf1Yg0fDITSXgu3DC5sGEQ-UI/s1600/002.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This set of Kromex canisters was a lucky find. They were all scattered about the store and priced individually came to less than $5 total. They're in great shape- I took them over to the booth.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg6KPZ7Rjdq3sDziVB6YfZ9H-QnIHWJpdVf0nMVyYPy8TEZkCVLSoW3B9jMEQcjhhw3nat3z2yqnDyOtrVI3uvBhz0dpn0VrcDfZii9pmcaQZHuEV9cr8m9RvcTgzTTLmHcAouvZ7TBp0/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg6KPZ7Rjdq3sDziVB6YfZ9H-QnIHWJpdVf0nMVyYPy8TEZkCVLSoW3B9jMEQcjhhw3nat3z2yqnDyOtrVI3uvBhz0dpn0VrcDfZii9pmcaQZHuEV9cr8m9RvcTgzTTLmHcAouvZ7TBp0/s1600/003.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Of course, I am looking for Pyrex first and foremost. The Butterprint 401 and the unmarked green 403 are duplicates for me, so they went over to the booth. I have been looking for this green for a long time, because it enabled me to complete an unmarked primary set for the booth- I have had no luck selling them separately so will try it this way. It's in great condition- amazing for being close to 70 years old!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I found the square flowers 473 at my first stop- and it was a gold mine for Pyrex! Also at that same store I found an unmarked opal 403, and a pixie. This is the second birthday thrift crawl in a row where I found pixies, and I have never found them any other time, go figure. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqzcCrWiBBIwbD1QxEU3zWV__Pwk03GaguPLB0_Lix46tUYk73_BSThOvyXcAEbfVYV639apkTO0IpK7gGCjdA5UPPXyf-tyxXp8vTyuerHlKXP6nUgerxE7J7DNjCergOV-prYccCP1U/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqzcCrWiBBIwbD1QxEU3zWV__Pwk03GaguPLB0_Lix46tUYk73_BSThOvyXcAEbfVYV639apkTO0IpK7gGCjdA5UPPXyf-tyxXp8vTyuerHlKXP6nUgerxE7J7DNjCergOV-prYccCP1U/s1600/photo+3.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also found this sad excuse for a pink stripe 401</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDpgOnHuAi5VRzbZkR32vNCnVMoznO9LI78_SeYXZhK9vesFlZSYQLXBERvoDVIoRb6Yfh24aAQsKw7s8Le07rLpLvXiVXQCeKl2cU0pgQqCawNTOJOp7jS23DfouUg_LcxNU6n3cUF30/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDpgOnHuAi5VRzbZkR32vNCnVMoznO9LI78_SeYXZhK9vesFlZSYQLXBERvoDVIoRb6Yfh24aAQsKw7s8Le07rLpLvXiVXQCeKl2cU0pgQqCawNTOJOp7jS23DfouUg_LcxNU6n3cUF30/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...but it was only 99 cents so I couldn't leave it there. And I don't know about you, but I have never seen pink stripes in person, so yeah, I'll bring it home and love it. But look what I found the next week (last week, at a different store)- mommy stripe! And this one is near perfect! Who knew? Pink stripes in the wild!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFpkQM7zBeI6HQT5VSrZIzGxzP8Fs1bZJezOOFQLkYm6HHkWP83g18qxVPwkURCKIpJwSYrHrqO2nTkFlswtyy_LUA-6tJhvB7e_kSyGA_IbBfLobVBYZvq64HWekrRXK62NWoYvG4bHs/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFpkQM7zBeI6HQT5VSrZIzGxzP8Fs1bZJezOOFQLkYm6HHkWP83g18qxVPwkURCKIpJwSYrHrqO2nTkFlswtyy_LUA-6tJhvB7e_kSyGA_IbBfLobVBYZvq64HWekrRXK62NWoYvG4bHs/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I found this cute nursery set as well. I don't know the maker, but it is really sweet, and has all its pieces in great shape. I wish I had this when my son was a baby- and I don't know anyone else expecting a boy baby, so I will probably list it on Etsy or take it to the booth.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiikbaXZxjdrRM7dWgzQFLZJeZLvu3iTCUX0kW0Bmpcl6yhSUul-2kWf3w5Bsv7-a26g-ELQCQ7wsKBoPA1HuTlp1OzZj_nZnthj__8dqj_bUEVhiXvZTdvv86WnP9tg6Cw8DjCIlAxW-0/s1600/012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiikbaXZxjdrRM7dWgzQFLZJeZLvu3iTCUX0kW0Bmpcl6yhSUul-2kWf3w5Bsv7-a26g-ELQCQ7wsKBoPA1HuTlp1OzZj_nZnthj__8dqj_bUEVhiXvZTdvv86WnP9tg6Cw8DjCIlAxW-0/s1600/012.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At this point in my travels things were really getting picked over. It's not surprising that almost all the good stuff was found early. I should make a reverse trip some time and see if the stores farthest away are good first thing on a Saturday morning...but I pride myself on my ability to find something good in any store, any time. And I think this is pretty good:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-YpljUKt6H3xBCbUeD8ueTjfuuzwaDrjoiX9BMpGggpzc9HGGFUAP1weBTWk7fWHGMLTiLqMJRMNaeNpy-uYOgFyueDTnb261fVESNHwtvQ0aPBp9G2LVh-ALbX8pl1V4lEDvP-oB8CU/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-YpljUKt6H3xBCbUeD8ueTjfuuzwaDrjoiX9BMpGggpzc9HGGFUAP1weBTWk7fWHGMLTiLqMJRMNaeNpy-uYOgFyueDTnb261fVESNHwtvQ0aPBp9G2LVh-ALbX8pl1V4lEDvP-oB8CU/s1600/010.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It's an oil painting, almost 3 ft wide. No frame, but I can tell by the stretcher and the keys that it is likely pre-WWII (see, Mom, that museum degree comes in handy!) It's not in the best of condition, but certainly worth the $15 I paid. I have a small collection of vintage landscape paintings at our cabin up in the mountains- this will fit right in!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZoYhyphenhyphenIA21dxHvoOCW61gdXIOq_O9jou4gkZUzbh8IWtG6xw14XyBMZYyOZsXyueJRAF058Y0ply5vgUGH8rGfFl0-qAFZUGSfvU_ElveJclclJXFne_elpjKggpg2lyStYOp0xFSLgiM/s1600/019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZoYhyphenhyphenIA21dxHvoOCW61gdXIOq_O9jou4gkZUzbh8IWtG6xw14XyBMZYyOZsXyueJRAF058Y0ply5vgUGH8rGfFl0-qAFZUGSfvU_ElveJclclJXFne_elpjKggpg2lyStYOp0xFSLgiM/s1600/019.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And this is my last find of the trip- a vintage chenille bedspread. But not your average floral or even a peacock. No, this one has 120th INF (Infantry) 30th DIV (division) and the division herald. I have never seen a military-themed chenille bedspread before- they are usually very feminine. So if you are looking for a full size chenille bedspread with somewhat of a different theme, check it out in <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">my Etsy shop</a>! It's in mint condition- not a mark on it. And as always, since you all are such loyal readers, enter coupon code PIT20OFF and you will get 20% your order!</div>

<br />
It's that time of year again- time for my annual birthday thrift crawl! That's when I take a whole day and go to all the thrift stores that are outside my usual neighborhood. It's good to kind of check in on places a bit farther out, just to see what's available. But I never have quite enough time to get to all the places I want to go in one day, so...I've decided to turn it into a week-long event. As in, get to a different nearby store every day this week, and save the long distance ones for the actual day (which was this past Saturday- that's the next post).<br />
<br />
I've had some pretty good luck in spots and some terrible luck in others. (Like today- drove 35 miles and came home empty-handed...) But, you win some, you lose some, and you'll never win if you don't play the game!<br />
<br />
I got very lucky in the Pyrex/vintage glass department, and that always makes everything better! I found this charcoal snowflake divided dish with lid- it's my first piece of black snowflake found ITW. The only other piece I have is a space saver I bought on ebay. It's in mint condition and I love it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj18J6KrfLiClKKYbeghjGFETHPjM5ZdhmueA_5kRHNRFP5oz7dMOR0fxXeaG7R3Gev3isoM_0Zbn0D5WlAcVjANa1nqYx9jpZ-hjgUMZrlKaP68tlxmJoFc-hScOkB1iVCkxbE8R6BuPE/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj18J6KrfLiClKKYbeghjGFETHPjM5ZdhmueA_5kRHNRFP5oz7dMOR0fxXeaG7R3Gev3isoM_0Zbn0D5WlAcVjANa1nqYx9jpZ-hjgUMZrlKaP68tlxmJoFc-hScOkB1iVCkxbE8R6BuPE/s1600/003.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Can you believe I found a piece of Fry glass at the pound store? Yep, a Fry oven glass (iridescent) pie plate with a 1915 date stamp for about 50 cents! I think it was $0.89/lb, LOL. I have enough pie plates right now (even tho this is sooo pretty) and no oven to bake them in (hint: watch for a stove update soon!) so this one will be for sale I think.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I also found these Hazel Atlas pretties in the discount room of a different thrift- 25 cents each! Two dinner plates and two cereal bowls. I have mixed these in with my Pyrex turquoise band dinnerware and they look amazing!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggnM5a1MEqVsW1Yg6vGyGejy2rmbVMS40SPtXhpjss-weUiZJ3_e17JVOVdRWvU4Q14-9KNPF2P5tck1U5-6V3JeuvzcsNqWTwtRZSYPEEhGfbfDwo76TdKYLg0HbPt6qIMHWyO8p9hZg/s1600/Etsy+coats+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggnM5a1MEqVsW1Yg6vGyGejy2rmbVMS40SPtXhpjss-weUiZJ3_e17JVOVdRWvU4Q14-9KNPF2P5tck1U5-6V3JeuvzcsNqWTwtRZSYPEEhGfbfDwo76TdKYLg0HbPt6qIMHWyO8p9hZg/s1600/Etsy+coats+003.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I found this Spring Blossom 2 473 the other day. I am not a big fan of the original SB, but the redesign is really growing on me. I like the small flowers! I might hold on to this one for a while to use in my spring display; I don't have a lot of green except for lime. The little chalkware duck was so cute, I picked him up for 50 cents.<br />

<br />
I found another space saver! This is actually my second Golden Pine SS found in the wild. It's in much better condition than the first one, so I will be holding onto this one and selling the first. I love this design- it's a combo of atomic and nature, so it speaks to me. ;)<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I counted up all the space savers I have found ITW and believe it or not, I've found 7, including a starburst and a rooster (with lid and cradle). I don't think I'm any more lucky than anyone else, just persistent, so they are out there, keep looking!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
Probably my biggest score in terms of reselling was this lot of vintage eyewear. I got everything here for $8, including the vintage safety glasses and the 1920s round specs. I always look through the sunglass and eyewear bins at thrift stores, because these can pay off big online. I've sold quite a few pairs for 3 figures when I only paid a couple dollars for them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that's it for my pre-birthday week thrift crawl haul!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stay tuned for the next post on my finds from the big day!</div>

<br />
Last time I posted I mentioned how it seemed like my dry spell had been broken. Boy has it ever! And I am sooo glad; I was starting to get a little desperate!<br />
<br />
I had some great luck with turquoise this week. First I found the Butterprint 401 which I posted last time. All I needed to complete my Butterprint mixing bowl set was the ever-elusive 404. I have been watching a couple online for a while and I just couldn't bring myself to pay the $50 or so it would have cost for one. I am glad I didn't pull the trigger because I found one in the wild!<br />
<br />
I was meeting my mom for lunch and was a bit early so I got in a little thrifting on the way. I couldn't believe my eyes- there it was, just sitting there waiting for me on the shelf. Believe me, I just about had a death grip on that sucker all the way to the register.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I <3 butterprint="" nbsp="" p=""><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am so excited I finally completed this set, and it was all thrifted.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And to complete my Turquoise Trifecta, yesterday I thrifted a Needlepoint 443! I just stopped into my local Sally Ann on a whim and there she was. I still can't believe I found one- never in a million years would I expect to find a piece like this at my Salvation Army, but it goes to show that every once in a while, a gem turns up.</div>

<br />
First off, I have to say that I have been getting a little bit worried about the state of thrifting in general. Whether you're out to resell or just to find cool things for yourself, it wasn't looking so hot. I think I walked out of more stores empty-handed than with a purchase, and that used to <i>never</i> happen! It seemed like the pickings were slim since November, especially for Pyrex.<br />
<br />
Well, I am happy to say that it seems like my luck has changed, at least for today! And it's funny, too, because I feel like crap today and haven't been out all week, but talked myself into going this afternoon just to get out of the house...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEpkkQgNnH5wpN0n30x2Qg48QOvBTuPJaON6wY5zmRwln3UXeHtocx35Wp9QBAirUn5xQeb8zTND_WvMBjNNZbWNAblLyhr_IDOuairzoRsjzkA6LNv4HaBzQHFTlDon16sYCW6qT9M0g/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEpkkQgNnH5wpN0n30x2Qg48QOvBTuPJaON6wY5zmRwln3UXeHtocx35Wp9QBAirUn5xQeb8zTND_WvMBjNNZbWNAblLyhr_IDOuairzoRsjzkA6LNv4HaBzQHFTlDon16sYCW6qT9M0g/s1600/photo+3.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I finally found some Pyrex! The Golden Acorn DD is a duplicate for me, but it was in mint condition and had the lid, so I picked it up for $6. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The Butterprint 401 is something I sorely needed to work on my 400 series set, and was only $2! I have all the 440s and 400s now except the elusive 404 (4 qt) mixing bowl. I have been trying to keep away from buying online too, because of all the horror stories of stuff breaking lately. So far I've had great luck, but I don't want to push it, plus it's more fun to find it in the wild.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And the clear 502 fridgie in the middle is one of the early ones, only made from 1950-52. How do I know? Well, besides coming with an old-style lid, it has the sunshine stamp on the bottom. They only made clear 501s and 502s during those years, and when the clear ones were re-introduced in the 80s they would have had a microwave stamp.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsEMHqZgO_8BeWv4UIyS2G65TNavfVxqAIVYZqccQ1pCHXgzZuVmZz40G4EWAFGjnsoYuRgiiPLKmDxnKc1rMXQ3JIZu9KWSa-5K2cLbkKB9zoKynGyQ7cU8mVYF7wjG35l9QujRz2yPA/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsEMHqZgO_8BeWv4UIyS2G65TNavfVxqAIVYZqccQ1pCHXgzZuVmZz40G4EWAFGjnsoYuRgiiPLKmDxnKc1rMXQ3JIZu9KWSa-5K2cLbkKB9zoKynGyQ7cU8mVYF7wjG35l9QujRz2yPA/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
These printed glasses were $1 each- it's had to tell in the photo but they are gorgeous- they are pink, green and white. I did a post a while back on<a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2012/11/susieqt-collects-printed-glassware.html" target="_blank"> my collection of printed glassware</a>. I haven't been buying as much of it lately, since I limit myself to buying only ones that come in sets, but I can find space for these!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And finally, I've been having some decent luck finding vintage valentine stuff- mostly crepe paper hearts and candy boxes. This little cherub is actually a planter or perhaps a card holder. I'll do a separate post on Valentines when we get closer to the day!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />SusieQThttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07472123869920926206noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-327051242734642774.post-72655708185388728342014-01-03T15:58:00.000-05:002014-01-03T15:58:53.823-05:00I'm a crafty sort......not really. Actually, I never make stuff. Me and hot glue just don't get along.<br />
<br />
But I had an idea to make one of those vintage lightbulb/ornament wreaths. Since we use those big colored lights to outline our house, I happened to have a bunch of spare lightbulbs. And today we're snowed in, so it was a good day to do a project.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuyerN3h12r2YeUUP4iNMjlk2iTyAOva5jre1SEIPos8aUOeIJ0zxuUu1wnizxQcGOgFuuGbKGIjWRXqiosHgs8XboWN4pMqJi0kme0l5xSYu-SAfTvwH32JQK_GVs9hiP60t9cGRl3h8/s1600/070.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuyerN3h12r2YeUUP4iNMjlk2iTyAOva5jre1SEIPos8aUOeIJ0zxuUu1wnizxQcGOgFuuGbKGIjWRXqiosHgs8XboWN4pMqJi0kme0l5xSYu-SAfTvwH32JQK_GVs9hiP60t9cGRl3h8/s400/070.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It took me two years to get my act together and do it though (hey, it took a while to collect all those burned out bulbs!) but it was really easy. And believe me, if I am saying that about a craft, it must be. It only took about an hour and I got to use some of the ornaments I thrifted yesterday (for 75% off!) Which was great, because once I got them home I realized I was going to have to store them for another whole year before putting them up... so win, win!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And since I had the glue gun out, I also fixed up this bottle brush wreath I have had for years. It needed something, so I added the "Merry Christmas" sign and a few bird ornaments. I had been thinking about bleaching it (as you can see above, our front door is red, and this just wouldn't stand out) but then I decided to hang it in front of my living room mirror. Perfect! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Hello Friends, hope your Christmas was Merry and your New Year Happy! I had to pop in and share with you a major thrift score from this past week! As you all may know, thrifting knows no season, and the best finds are usually out-of-season gems!<br />
<br />
And so it was for me. I happened to take a trip to my favorite thrift store a few days after Christmas and of course, I didn't buy Christmas stuff (that is all long since picked over!) but in the back of the store by the kids' stuff I found these!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUsA_QJfpP879qbGjOEHs92BTSnuA-v2Vr3s6TAATgv692JoVf9nw2XzJlPvp9zO_pS03gyeR3FLsZ49Bd5hOftNPO823VbJ2jbGowEB-ZZ6OuBY48TONShIqQLPR1GAPuw-uWhCvlnqE/s1600/halloween+costumes+021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUsA_QJfpP879qbGjOEHs92BTSnuA-v2Vr3s6TAATgv692JoVf9nw2XzJlPvp9zO_pS03gyeR3FLsZ49Bd5hOftNPO823VbJ2jbGowEB-ZZ6OuBY48TONShIqQLPR1GAPuw-uWhCvlnqE/s400/halloween+costumes+021.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Five vintage costumes still in their boxes! All are from the early 80s and earlier. On the left is a Collegeville Costume (Collegeville is not very far from here, but I had no idea they made costumes there) Panda and a Ben Cooper Raggedy Ann. On the right are Ben Cooper Strawberry Shortcake (the original version from my childhood, not the one my daughter is familiar with, LOL), a Pound Puppies and another Collegeville Scarecrow.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYC7s_HkgvvmKiHYjxZJ1-Wo7tb5uspbe497F1-Q1lDucdWOnqJU1CcVO-fpsDf27ybveX1WDxM8SXFJEVKZ-0IK7mFRapJfzgv9fqo-VQQjsgyXVeuM08gvpZf533Vb6sVqCWojnlnTk/s1600/halloween+costumes+020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYC7s_HkgvvmKiHYjxZJ1-Wo7tb5uspbe497F1-Q1lDucdWOnqJU1CcVO-fpsDf27ybveX1WDxM8SXFJEVKZ-0IK7mFRapJfzgv9fqo-VQQjsgyXVeuM08gvpZf533Vb6sVqCWojnlnTk/s400/halloween+costumes+020.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This is the Panda- it is probably the oldest. I'd guess it was from the late 60s, as the costume part is fabric. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
My daughter was thrilled to model these costumes for you all to see, and they will be eventually headed to <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">my Etsy store</a>. I was sorry to have to tell her that she couldn't keep them to play dress up!</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

Naturally, this one is her favorite. It still even smells like Strawberry- remember that? I don't think the new dolls do that. I may hold onto this one for her for next year, we shall see...<br />

<br />
My son, aka "Eagle Eye", spotted these vintage Fisher Price pull-behind trains. He happened to have some of his Christmas money on him, so he bought these to resell. He is quite the businessman anymore. Watch for these in <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">the Etsy shop</a>, and help out an 8 year old entrepreneur!<br />

That's it for today, I promise to blog a bit more in the New Year, now that I have got my camera issues straightened out! (Thanks, Santa! :)</div>

<br />
I have a few thrift finds to show you. Not as many as usual; I don't know about you, but around here its slim pickins this time of year.<br />
<br />
First the Pyrex:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibh-ddHXGI6Godcj4PXGLDc7pG5bmCuwwrT3fyfGEFvZAbcb2wm9KLm2Def7V-eCOUAYeliqpsgg6xliByXsK5f1BHOjHKlXW8v606vjXNAZ36ON6rFGt9_gO_jLgIzDTLupF5dtcYaww/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibh-ddHXGI6Godcj4PXGLDc7pG5bmCuwwrT3fyfGEFvZAbcb2wm9KLm2Def7V-eCOUAYeliqpsgg6xliByXsK5f1BHOjHKlXW8v606vjXNAZ36ON6rFGt9_gO_jLgIzDTLupF5dtcYaww/s400/008.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I didn't think I would like Woodland, but it has grown on me. Just the mixing bowls, though. I can still pass on the casseroles and such! These were really reasonable ($8 for the three) so I picked them up. I am trying to find some solid blue Horizon bowls to mix it with- I think a blue and brown set would really look sharp. The one on the right is an Americana fall colors 403, which I definitely love. Gonna have to find the rest of this set!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And speaking of fall colors, I found almost all of the Autumn Harvest Cinderella set the week before Thanksgiving! In a thrift store- I mean, who donates these things the week before turkey day? Everything but the rust colored 442, and they are in great condition for $12.99. I am almost done with my AH- just need this 442 and the 402 from the mixing bowl set. I also treated myself to an early Christmas present and bought a fridgie set on Etsy for a super price.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx0k8y0e3afyKwpAuKiGtW_KToxYUOPIio6a-5zGwZfH1ALstaJrfKHyXI18qNwFW5Ata5PzzN39ncP3zxGIjEr0srn_he-l2He6qNBIo22C7AmuwHkJm4wqbkztYkoLOpwOln-sMY2EY/s1600/019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx0k8y0e3afyKwpAuKiGtW_KToxYUOPIio6a-5zGwZfH1ALstaJrfKHyXI18qNwFW5Ata5PzzN39ncP3zxGIjEr0srn_he-l2He6qNBIo22C7AmuwHkJm4wqbkztYkoLOpwOln-sMY2EY/s400/019.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I also found 3/4 of the primary fridge set with old-style lids! I happened to have an extra yellow 503 laying around, so that completed my second set of these. But I don't have the space to keep both, so these went to my booth.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqZnqiX5O0xeIH3xQmmDb0A_ty27w9prZaVGo48nx70ymUV3rwoBBfEMfeimdSK_osPMwCNHD_kijjPG_HGteYxjvXGN6O7PYaTWM64WksaRfvXSNBgIs4jg_kdA2aeNAV_KUm4PRv7Sw/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqZnqiX5O0xeIH3xQmmDb0A_ty27w9prZaVGo48nx70ymUV3rwoBBfEMfeimdSK_osPMwCNHD_kijjPG_HGteYxjvXGN6O7PYaTWM64WksaRfvXSNBgIs4jg_kdA2aeNAV_KUm4PRv7Sw/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I also got really lucky right after Thanksgiving- I was in a little tiny town that had a ton of junk shops and found my first ever 933 lasagna pan! It was only $6, but I am not a fan of Butterfly Gold, so I ended up trading this one. I also found a red 404 for $8 which I am keeping- for some reason I don't have a picture of it, and my camera is barely working so it's more hassle than it's worth to take one. (It's also super hard to blog with it, so that's my excuse! :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn1HqCL8Wi8OLAgMZ_-UnC3q89bBCrZCjZ9GDmrGGYnlgCczIWPN5CODtaRt0a4CwkhzrYbkqrtF9Pk2bJrkTwSM6Kk3WJzkSVbulqZICIRHLn7MGtQAITnfIRbqyHR2nVNs-xsz5u_xU/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn1HqCL8Wi8OLAgMZ_-UnC3q89bBCrZCjZ9GDmrGGYnlgCczIWPN5CODtaRt0a4CwkhzrYbkqrtF9Pk2bJrkTwSM6Kk3WJzkSVbulqZICIRHLn7MGtQAITnfIRbqyHR2nVNs-xsz5u_xU/s400/010.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It's not all Pyrex goodies, though- 'tis the season for vintage Christmas! I don't buy as much as I used to; back when it was still cheap I bought dozens of ornaments for my tree. I think I probably have a gross of Shiny Brites at this point. But these red ones are really neat and were reasonable- will probably be headed to Etsy in the near future! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I also bought not one, but two 4 ft. aluminum trees from the same thrift store! I think I paid about $35 for both. I took both over the the booth, and never got a photo of them completely assembled, so I'm sorry I can't show you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Speaking of <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank">my Etsy shop</a>, I added a bunch of new stuff- check it out and use the coupon code PIT20OFF for a 20% discount on everything!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXCOhC7ovLYbANiMnpOoKNUp9XkZL4q6ZL11yu02rBfG-Vag1r6SGeLvUarYcgNhE_WSJhhFZl8y9XYhT7YF8uOeB8HexLV7_mFzzcXkcRAqninwBYVkAzWoyKzHLRU61o2A5ixMLsEC8/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXCOhC7ovLYbANiMnpOoKNUp9XkZL4q6ZL11yu02rBfG-Vag1r6SGeLvUarYcgNhE_WSJhhFZl8y9XYhT7YF8uOeB8HexLV7_mFzzcXkcRAqninwBYVkAzWoyKzHLRU61o2A5ixMLsEC8/s400/010.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
These last two are the only non-Pyrex, non-Christmas things I've bought in probably 2 months.<br />
I love this dog and leaf planter (despite his weird eyebrows) and it is much bigger than it looks here. I'm debating whether to take it to the booth or put it on Etsy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkT-JFLy7ojQkmCJMMPEUXamROM5xE6wY2CcuV7pI5xOvNnEv5hJxFoilXuNUuotzqQ6EBT_IZOo36ycxOYL_uWgblgfn-Tz8N177qxz_JSyj3SzIc2aArehgTEd2LExkTeyQGoC3srxA/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkT-JFLy7ojQkmCJMMPEUXamROM5xE6wY2CcuV7pI5xOvNnEv5hJxFoilXuNUuotzqQ6EBT_IZOo36ycxOYL_uWgblgfn-Tz8N177qxz_JSyj3SzIc2aArehgTEd2LExkTeyQGoC3srxA/s400/011.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This cool mid century clock is also a lot bigger than it looks! I can totally see this in someone's retro 60s/70s kitchen or living room. It's probably 18 inches in diameter and works, too! Most likely going to booth because I don't want to have to ship this! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlUf9spboR6zM16IDLGfWUpy8MagPSibynY7jCKvx37hc8EA2JBBi-abCfT8ABj_OR3nyq-XZSM4DLYZgTMtrPqw4OYACtjv71STe8cxHpkHOVv6CX5RFh9Y0L8g-VSQgrwERPG3nx2Ec/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlUf9spboR6zM16IDLGfWUpy8MagPSibynY7jCKvx37hc8EA2JBBi-abCfT8ABj_OR3nyq-XZSM4DLYZgTMtrPqw4OYACtjv71STe8cxHpkHOVv6CX5RFh9Y0L8g-VSQgrwERPG3nx2Ec/s400/014.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print. Have a Merry Kitschmas!</div>

I thought I'd do a quick post on some of my recent thrift finds. I've been having pretty good luck lately. And it seems like I have more time to shop than to blog about it, so I'll try not to overload you with stuff (even though my house is bursting at the seams while I get it all ready for<a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/practiceintime" target="_blank"> my Etsy store</a> and my booth!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEjB0lIi-UZ3Zlrp9QkhHAaGziq4lKDQyNKH1xtx_jTpudoB1vDNxwh4rEGDklpILkk2XJilToWVu-nfUt_WdlcLq6486zuM31y5janViu0g0KiUYTOgxF6W6Lxfi4x1XG4N0kl__hE3A/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; display: inline !important; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEjB0lIi-UZ3Zlrp9QkhHAaGziq4lKDQyNKH1xtx_jTpudoB1vDNxwh4rEGDklpILkk2XJilToWVu-nfUt_WdlcLq6486zuM31y5janViu0g0KiUYTOgxF6W6Lxfi4x1XG4N0kl__hE3A/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
First off are these printed pitchers. I mentioned before that I<a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/search?q=printed+glassware" target="_blank"> collect printed glassware</a>, and am always on the lookout for the pitchers that go to the sets. Seems like they are always hard to find! So I was stoked to find the one on the right, especially, because it matches a set of glasses I have, and I have been looking for this one a long time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The little ball pitcher on the left has a funny story to go with it. It was so cute, I couldn't leave it behind at the thrift...but unfortunately I did. I actually took it up to the register and paid for it, and then the ladies running the counter forgot to put it in my bag. (I am certain it was an honest mistake.) It wasn't until a couple days later that I realized I didn't have it. So I called up and described the situation and the manager said I was welcome to come in and get my money back (they couldn't find the pitcher). I got to the store and found the thing back on the shelf! I still had my reciept, so of course I got to take it home with me this time. I don't have the matching glasses for this one, though, so it's going to the booth. Of course I will probably find them as soon as I sell it...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd-JZO_tQbxo4b8MPD72zTqN5EGxiuXdv-frQ4CD-7YbKYhZGl-EMWb9zyyAOEeNpd6-Zor-gMONAnWHKq4zvJD7gYPNnBpBMKlIurEkrop3M8IFQTgpIqRNBtBgQAr7mL8KPvTcXrzpc/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd-JZO_tQbxo4b8MPD72zTqN5EGxiuXdv-frQ4CD-7YbKYhZGl-EMWb9zyyAOEeNpd6-Zor-gMONAnWHKq4zvJD7gYPNnBpBMKlIurEkrop3M8IFQTgpIqRNBtBgQAr7mL8KPvTcXrzpc/s400/017.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I found all these mugs on one epic thrifting day. I took my daughter to a birthday party, and while she was there, my son (aka "Eagle Eye") and I hit up a few thrifts we don't normally get to. The bluish on in front is Fire King Delphite, which I have never seen in person before. The Santa mugs behind it actually have rhinestones in the open eye (the other is winking shut), which is kind of creepy to me, but these sell well in the booth. The item on the far right is a set of teabag holders in their original stand. Eagle Eye spotted those, because I have a set at home which I bought off of <a href="http://zootsuitmamablogspotcom.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Zootsuitmama</a>'s Etsy shop. He recognized them and so for 65 cents, thought it would be something he could buy to resell. He's always trying to make some money! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And as always, I am on the lookout for two things when I thrift- Pyrex and camp blankets. And I found both just the other day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFsjuyejjRAKjuKuWfs1NMuSz4eLCx8oWZ7sQbVtdMwhxJ-j8jCbPpnUDwogvX-CxOCTHEkAB8Hyl8EYWIVQt4g0CGMV96xe_YYzDrUIcgJ_5PNLWe4A8_jvjddRQnKfbDtPkf_c_NGwY/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFsjuyejjRAKjuKuWfs1NMuSz4eLCx8oWZ7sQbVtdMwhxJ-j8jCbPpnUDwogvX-CxOCTHEkAB8Hyl8EYWIVQt4g0CGMV96xe_YYzDrUIcgJ_5PNLWe4A8_jvjddRQnKfbDtPkf_c_NGwY/s400/007.JPG" width="400" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I hit up my usual Tuesday thrift stop and just got a "Pyrex vibe" as soon as I walked in. And when I got to the housewares, there was nothing! For once, I doubted my instincts. Big mistake! Because when I got to the dishware aisle I found a box of Turquoise Gold Band 4-pc place settings, plus the sugar and creamer (with lid!). There is 4 total settings, each including dinner plate, salad plate, cup and saucer. A couple of the dinner plates have some scratches, but the rest is pristine. It was a total of 19 pieces for $12. They are so pretty, I may just have to collect the rest of the set- and I already have the vegetable bowl.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqa38H08yM4n91vMk0fWSENTGomUTe7lp5RJRXvKQSzf0hE5nTRYlcMxyhEDLdpHKiewpN8Z3WQeTRiJGx28KiuR9m3zkL1IS8rMoqziRkXHhJ4sPFEhgeewTUAZg4WzqwIRcxnsHcFno/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqa38H08yM4n91vMk0fWSENTGomUTe7lp5RJRXvKQSzf0hE5nTRYlcMxyhEDLdpHKiewpN8Z3WQeTRiJGx28KiuR9m3zkL1IS8rMoqziRkXHhJ4sPFEhgeewTUAZg4WzqwIRcxnsHcFno/s400/015.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
These pieces of Pyrex also happened on the epic thrift trip with Eagle Eye. The 024s on the left were so cheap I couldn't leave them behind (49 and 99 cents) and are a size I use frequently, even though I'm not fond of the colors. They are in great shape, too, except for some wear to the gold band. The opal gold band 024 and the opal promo 023 with cradle I found last time mean that I only have to find the plain opal 024 and I will have the whole set of that style. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The Golden Honeysuckle on the right was something of a reclamation project. I have seen this pattern before and passed it up (not big on the gold designs) and it is an unusual shape (i.e. doesn't stack!), so I had no reason to collect it. But I have never seen one with the optional walnut stand, and it was a neat piece with the lid and stand. Unfortunately, the dish itself was completely covered in silvery metal marks, like someone had scrubbed it with steel wool. It was only $5, though, so I thought I could at least salvage the stand and lid if not the dish. But a little BKF worked wonders on it and it is nearly as good as new! I couldn't believe it. And I have found myself using it quite a bit since I got it- it is the perfect size for my favorite winter dish, <a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2010/01/eat-your-brussel-sprouts.html" target="_blank">roasted brussel sprouts</a> and the stand makes serving easy. Now I understand why so much Pyrex came with cradles or stands- they are really versatile!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpZjK0gNTeXbxBbLtYimXW64pguZ_K0_kmbZl8oMMfBCKQQy-o7mPnSJt5fJZKBxbib5EWAHViWF_dlFPtPztKRyHjMGAcqxxmFryUoaFCKpGnh4KENuDADr4rixGrXgQ_1GqXAiyjUcU/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpZjK0gNTeXbxBbLtYimXW64pguZ_K0_kmbZl8oMMfBCKQQy-o7mPnSJt5fJZKBxbib5EWAHViWF_dlFPtPztKRyHjMGAcqxxmFryUoaFCKpGnh4KENuDADr4rixGrXgQ_1GqXAiyjUcU/s400/008.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And lastly, after the Pyrex aisle, I always cruise through the linens looking for camp blankets. I found this really neat one the other day. I have never seen one with such a bold pattern- it really reminds me of vintage Scandinavian textiles. Like all camp blankets it reverses to the opposite color scheme (what is red is white, and white, red, when you flip it over). But unlike most camp blankets,which are usually cotton (and machine washable), this one apparently had a high wool content, which wasn't really obvious until I threw it in the wash. Fortunately the blanket didn't shrink much (it was a single/twin to start with) but everything else in that load got covered in fuzz, and my lint trap was so loaded with red lint I was worried I might have a fire. But at least the blanket is clean! And super warm, which is good because it's really getting cold around here- perfect for snuggling up in a vintage blanket with a cup of tea in a Pyrex mug!</div>

<br />
I got only one new blow mold this year, but it is a good one- the one on the far left.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpz5CNC5d-5w5ZVQdINlc17Mu2aFXH2RMk60DIS5OjCrJfY9N_65YzAQrgRwaXhnwZpgXFLFvkREwmEYBXngFLKMuN60i3Zzgsb6aW4ctAtnt7zGZtm01gRxnx8D1t0cpXF_miEDBUZkk/s1600/photo+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpz5CNC5d-5w5ZVQdINlc17Mu2aFXH2RMk60DIS5OjCrJfY9N_65YzAQrgRwaXhnwZpgXFLFvkREwmEYBXngFLKMuN60i3Zzgsb6aW4ctAtnt7zGZtm01gRxnx8D1t0cpXF_miEDBUZkk/s400/photo+(4).JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you look closely, you can see that some of them are wearing "costumes" aka fake mustaches courtesy of my kids. We had a little fun with faux facial hair this year.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYILS94AzpRv-TJFS3Sv8Z5FGweQ445bIep07qasIeFilREKU6rqM14M0c-VL6kjL-m1zcaPHLd42WzZ2w-tIjwz0IdHdpbRUqG4Zv7JpNgRJjpJTHdH_0MX7vrfONdNwmDdlIjuCx76E/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYILS94AzpRv-TJFS3Sv8Z5FGweQ445bIep07qasIeFilREKU6rqM14M0c-VL6kjL-m1zcaPHLd42WzZ2w-tIjwz0IdHdpbRUqG4Zv7JpNgRJjpJTHdH_0MX7vrfONdNwmDdlIjuCx76E/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since I had a bunch of new fall colored Pyrex, I set up a display of that this year. I used that creepy oil painting I picked up a while ago for the background, and added some spray painted curly willow branches (my brother has one of those trees in his yard) for a 3D effect. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgaFH7OpjeKcW8A8WFE_1QRVt2AcB763cXcA1hx2wUaiH841jo1BlJXPycYOn1qOdvqrdDK5FPJIQIUeyJRrl83dp3MxS9X38VMknYN9-2Aa1AHgOJaCbiiK8pRukmKPVRdEAwjcAbqdI/s1600/photo+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgaFH7OpjeKcW8A8WFE_1QRVt2AcB763cXcA1hx2wUaiH841jo1BlJXPycYOn1qOdvqrdDK5FPJIQIUeyJRrl83dp3MxS9X38VMknYN9-2Aa1AHgOJaCbiiK8pRukmKPVRdEAwjcAbqdI/s400/photo+(3).JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This year's big finds were mostly vintage paper decorations. (Thanks to <a href="http://egtmicks.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Mick</a> and the <a href="http://pyrexthriftersisters.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Thrifter Sisters</a> for getting me hooked on those! :) This honeycomb ghost was NIB until we hooked him up to our chandelier...and added another fake 'stache. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this pumpkin from last week's haul has found a home on the back of our front door. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Seems like just yesterday I was apologizing for not blogging much...<br />
<br />
Anyway, I've been having some really great luck at the thrifts lately, and when I went to put things together to photograph for this post I noticed I had lots of things that were alike.<br />
<br />
(And yes, I am still having difficulties with my camera, so these shots are not the best!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-oRUBo3GQs2CFPWnAtDi8RXVy0JEWHz9_8mrX-khoOo4hK60AnBS-MyafqIGvu05mNA7FbUzUnqeZQinqV1V8RCP2Xw6piXxon4B4nXq6D2X6sgaxs0oiOwzIk5avdsqIvjfppAnjAfI/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-oRUBo3GQs2CFPWnAtDi8RXVy0JEWHz9_8mrX-khoOo4hK60AnBS-MyafqIGvu05mNA7FbUzUnqeZQinqV1V8RCP2Xw6piXxon4B4nXq6D2X6sgaxs0oiOwzIk5avdsqIvjfppAnjAfI/s400/008.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Two tooled leather handbags. The one on the left I thrifted today for $7 and it came with a matching coin purse. The one on the right was a yard sale find for $3. 2 for $10!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeTgbc-PORcJ3LTxa7pEbbnx8R5aDhh9Nj7zhPD39QNsCo1BIjFg88NmRJLgfq-BlqcihImx-v7xZYkoio65pgu55G0LF_JlPaRqpSLylYBU7_QpNdcY65KhwBjhv-wqpcgA1dVqtkt7U/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeTgbc-PORcJ3LTxa7pEbbnx8R5aDhh9Nj7zhPD39QNsCo1BIjFg88NmRJLgfq-BlqcihImx-v7xZYkoio65pgu55G0LF_JlPaRqpSLylYBU7_QpNdcY65KhwBjhv-wqpcgA1dVqtkt7U/s400/006.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Two pieces of enameled cast iron. Why yes, that is a Le Creuset dutch oven. For $10 at a thrift store? You bet I'm carrying that thing around till my arms are ready to fall off. (And the best part of it is, that while it is well-used, the previous owner used it to make something vanilla- even after a good scrubbing it still smells like vanilla- yummy!) The red frying pan is a Griswold from the 30s- mint condition for $1 at a yard sale.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuLTQ0h5jLGoXKpYnKAMUHMJ4uDtCXRaIb8EoP7jsbiXHH1Pi2K7dAGN_g675xENGRBHX2PWJaQXTt7iGY-JNTSw3iy53CGqmrbLCyJA3e4E5g5Mfonl1kQAJl_pdbmLKNuxFY-77w35g/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuLTQ0h5jLGoXKpYnKAMUHMJ4uDtCXRaIb8EoP7jsbiXHH1Pi2K7dAGN_g675xENGRBHX2PWJaQXTt7iGY-JNTSw3iy53CGqmrbLCyJA3e4E5g5Mfonl1kQAJl_pdbmLKNuxFY-77w35g/s400/009.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Two adorable FireKing casseroles. The one on the left is hand-painted Gay Fad and the one on the right is Swiss Chalet. Both in mint condition and only a couple of bucks each.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was just thinking I'd like to make madeleines and the next day I found these two pans for 50 cents. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the details on them:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And of course I found some Pyrex! Two pieces of bakewear, a lime 023 and a Desert Dawn round cake pan. I have never seen pink DD in person before- it's beautiful!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJMncKl_dFVWdFYju8_RoJozjLt3f5MH5zz5Gmr-ycZVYPpQPiAccSrbIXuaZ0QJMGrzOO6OHg9iFXHpNG1h3J5YCcgEBkkNik1Zelmpyn8Rcj671zawSiwWNF3djyY9ZiiEpgumaFUyo/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJMncKl_dFVWdFYju8_RoJozjLt3f5MH5zz5Gmr-ycZVYPpQPiAccSrbIXuaZ0QJMGrzOO6OHg9iFXHpNG1h3J5YCcgEBkkNik1Zelmpyn8Rcj671zawSiwWNF3djyY9ZiiEpgumaFUyo/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And two more pieces of Pyrex, a snowflake space saver (with lid!!!) and yellow hostess (with lid!!!). On the right is a super cool ice bucket- the bullet shaped piece completely separates from the stand. (Why, I don't know, because it wouldn't stand upright, but still, so cool...)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipwbBAWHGILHSvtUpTPkHOnrTdZXOUW9PcLiQHEZWGq5vPkAxypVUvQdV48XXbvvKKcRVygiecM8OFCtV0vmswEEcCr0HnDkK_gne2L28hyoIVbgryKjSAOCyTOPz77f5LrtJ43JL1y3o/s1600/011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipwbBAWHGILHSvtUpTPkHOnrTdZXOUW9PcLiQHEZWGq5vPkAxypVUvQdV48XXbvvKKcRVygiecM8OFCtV0vmswEEcCr0HnDkK_gne2L28hyoIVbgryKjSAOCyTOPz77f5LrtJ43JL1y3o/s400/011.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
OK, not doubles, but multiples! I hit the mother lode of vintage paper decorations yesterday. The turkey is a Beistle (also my second one of those in a couple of weeks), as are the Pilgrim cutouts that take me back to my own Elementary School days. The Halloween pumpkin and Trick or Treat sign are flocked- remember those? Haha, now I'm dating myself...anyway all of it set me back a whopping $1.80!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

(Apologies for the blurriness of the photos- I have to use my phone to take pix now.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAQvQGxz1G39YuGren8J3izYYZexxjUZOLqsWteiPCitYZGHalLjNicXGuayqsSC_4FVGJ6xP8FNV0Fx7gCJCMOWAmfdmWad8GP1dZQIbst1C0uxa2C0ZDA8PyiVgckeoNaGQz4waUA7k/s1600/photo+(10).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAQvQGxz1G39YuGren8J3izYYZexxjUZOLqsWteiPCitYZGHalLjNicXGuayqsSC_4FVGJ6xP8FNV0Fx7gCJCMOWAmfdmWad8GP1dZQIbst1C0uxa2C0ZDA8PyiVgckeoNaGQz4waUA7k/s400/photo+(10).JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The frosted glasses have a leaping horse pattern on them and were only 10 cents each, the recipe box was a quarter and the boomerang ashtray was $1 at the estate sale. The chalkware fruit wall hanging is a duplicate of one I already have, but I love these things so much and it was only 50 cents. I'll find a place to hang it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
These Pyrex 401 bowls are what I bought at the flea market and are the best patterned Pyrex I've found in a while. I saw more Pyrex there than I have at any thrift store or yard sale, which is great because the prices are low and there doesn't seem to be the competition for Pyrex there like I see in the thrifts. (That's another whole issue which has been bugging me lately, but I don't want to get into that.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

The top is Horizon Blue and is my first piece of that pattern. I'm still kicking myself for passing up a complete set of casseroles in this pattern two years ago- it's so pretty. The bottom one is New Dots (of course you knew that if you are into Pyrex) and is so minty! I am now halfway to finishing that set- you may remember my post about finding the<a href="http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2012/12/hyperventilating-in-thrift-store.html" target="_blank"> yellow New Dots</a>. And the best part of the flea market is I got both of them for $5! Which is a good thing, because finishing these sets is probably going to cost me- especially the New Dots 404.</div>

I know many of you are inveterate thrifters and don't need to be told that scores like these are not everyday occurrances. I go to thrifts almost every day but rarely do I come out of there with stuff this good. But I do go often because 90% of the time thrifting is all about being in the right place at the right time, and if you're not in the place at all, that amazing piece will be going home with someone else.<br />
<br />
(And I would be a happy camper indeed at this point if I could thrift myself a brand new camera...bear with me because my ancient camera has not been working that well and making blogging in general very difficult!)<br />
<br />
Last week I wrote about some of my good thrifting luck and promised to show you the non-Pyrex finds. Well, these are the big things, and later I'll get to the small things.<br />
<br />
Thank goodness I have kids or I would have a really hard time explaining why I bought this amazing chair.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtksoeY8CKx5sU6J4E9I-B9EifjIQ3j3xUktA8kqYz385_uenwh2m_Mq7ttTVIBwuqgDXsVX41IovolozWZQzVJP4DFwHoi3394l6tSp9ixC6gLT7g41fm2cJXp-I6mx9Kdu4Fdepjhcw/s1600/photo+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtksoeY8CKx5sU6J4E9I-B9EifjIQ3j3xUktA8kqYz385_uenwh2m_Mq7ttTVIBwuqgDXsVX41IovolozWZQzVJP4DFwHoi3394l6tSp9ixC6gLT7g41fm2cJXp-I6mx9Kdu4Fdepjhcw/s400/photo+(4).JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Because I totally would have bought it even if I didn't have small people to fit in it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It is a vinyl upholstered rocking chair, in amazing condition- not a rip or scratch on it. It was more than I usually like to pay at $25, but still, I fell so hard for this I probably would have paid more. I can just see a kid sitting in it in the 1950s watching cartoons or TV westerns. And that is exactly what my kids are doing with it today. Aren't those little diamond details amazing? (and amazing that they survived the years intact!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihksJhuxeyleDX4QnHkJDGoMIy6Mb2PYGPLRh5PD1o6BHc09im1xRSiDtgoQNKpTqRI-FeMNHkemVxJuga_aBydnqpxS1N0pdN4-yu-7uNCATsRWkN9hMGSgXZl0GPHeC1bRGO143yOSQ/s1600/photo+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihksJhuxeyleDX4QnHkJDGoMIy6Mb2PYGPLRh5PD1o6BHc09im1xRSiDtgoQNKpTqRI-FeMNHkemVxJuga_aBydnqpxS1N0pdN4-yu-7uNCATsRWkN9hMGSgXZl0GPHeC1bRGO143yOSQ/s400/photo+(3).JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And speaking of Western, I found this vintage 1920s Navajo rug in a thrift store! For $20!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I have wanted one of these for <i>ever</i>. I looked for a long time several years ago when we were decorating our living room the first time (see the current look <a href="http://www.practiceintime.blogspot.com/2013/08/tour-of-chez-qt-our-living-room.html" target="_blank">here</a>) before not finding any in my price range. It is huge too, about 4x6. Problem is, now our decorating scheme is more 50s modern/kitsch than the rustic/western look it was before. So I don't know if I will keep it or sell it to finance a new camera. What would you do?</div>

And for some reason, the thrifting right now is great! After a few months of the doldrums, I have been finding goodies by the armful whenever I go out. I'm ashamed to admit it, but my basement is starting to look like a hoarder's. Must...get...listing...aargh...<br />
<br />
I don't know what I did to deserve it, but I guess I have the magic touch or good karma or whatever right now. Check out my Pyrex haul from just the last week:<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;">Yes, you're seeing all that Friendship correctly! I went to two different stores on Saturday (not usually the best day to thrift, either) and all I found was Friendship everywhere! The divided dish ($5), as well as the Snowflake Garland lid came from one Goodwill. Then I went down the road to another thrift and found all the 470 casseroles. The 471 (without lid) was $2.50, and the 472 and 473 with opal lids were $3.50 each. I thought I was going to pass out trying to get all those in my cart! I now have quite the collection of Friendship, all this plus the 444, 443 and 442 Cinderella bowls, and it was all thrifted. Which is great because I can't afford to buy it online, LOL.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
Last week I went to a thrift store I haven't been to in a long time (why, I don't really know, because it is a great store) and bought the woodland 043 and Spring Blossom 473 for just a few bucks each. They are not my favorites, but are near mint, so I will be putting them in my booth.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
Then last night I was on my way to work and had to stop in to a little thrift on the way- Bingo! The lime 232 was there waiting for me for $4.50. I am really loving the lime and flamingo bakewear right now. I will have to do some re-arranging of my shelves to display it better. But not today; I've got Mr. Limey in the oven baking up a peach cobbler right now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
And finally today, I just got a good Pyrex vibe after I dropped my daughter off at school and had to run into my closest local thrift. I found the Butterprint 503 with lid for $3.50 and the Golden Tulip for $3.99, as well as the Flamewear saucepan for $5. That's about as much Pyrex as I've ever gotten at this store in one shot, so my spidey sense was definitely working!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
I found a ton of other stuff too, but I will save that for next time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
